Porous Metal Gas Diffusion Layers
High-precision porous metal GDLs (Gas Diffusion Layers) engineered for PEM fuel cells and electrolyzers. Available in Titanium and 316L Stainless Steel with customized 16%–40% porosity. Delivers superior mechanical strength, zero-creep under stack compression, and optimized water management compared to carbon paper.
High-Performance Porous Metal Gas Diffusion Layers for Fuel Cells & Electrolyzers
CMI Porous Metal Gas Diffusion Layers (GDLs) are engineered for high-performance PEM fuel cells, electrolyzers, and advanced electrochemical systems.
Manufactured through precision powder metallurgy technology, these porous metallic diffusion layers provide highly controlled and interconnected pore structures for uniform reactant distribution, optimized water management, and excellent electrical conductivity.
Compared to conventional carbon paper or carbon cloth diffusion media, CMI metallic GDLs offer significantly higher mechanical strength, improved dimensional stability, and zero thickness creep under high stack compression conditions.
These materials are especially suitable for high-pressure hydrogen systems, PEM electrolyzers, fuel cell stacks, and next-generation clean energy applications requiring long-term electrochemical stability.
Core Technical Advantages
Mechanical & Dimensional Stability
Maintains stable permeability and consistent thickness (typically ±0.025 mm) under heavy compressive loading in multi-cell stack assemblies.
Optimized Water Management
Engineered pore structures balance gas diffusion and liquid water transport, reducing flooding in fuel cells and improving gas release in electrolyzers.
Superior Corrosion Resistance
Available in Titanium and 316L stainless steel for aggressive acidic or alkaline electrochemical environments with minimal contamination risk.
Surface & Catalyst Compatibility
Compatible with hydrophobic/hydrophilic surface treatments, conductive Au/Pt plating, and direct catalyst coating technologies.
