CMI engineers porous metal structures from a wide range of high-performance powders to ensure compatibility with aggressive chemicals, elevated temperatures, pressure cycling, and demanding industrial environments.

Our material selection process considers media compatibility, chloride content, acid concentration, oxidation potential, operating temperature, cleaning methods, and mechanical stress to provide long service life with predictable performance.

To maintain strict upstream quality control, CMI also produces selected sintering-grade metal powders in-house. This vertical integration allows tighter control over particle size distribution, powder purity, morphology consistency, and batch-to-batch stability—critical factors that directly influence pore structure, permeability, and final filter performance.

Why Powder Quality Matters

The performance of porous metal media begins at powder level. Irregular particle shape, contamination, or unstable particle sizing can cause inconsistent pore networks, lower strength, and unpredictable pressure drop. By controlling powder production internally, CMI improves repeatability from raw material to finished porous component.
